Try ne2k-pci for the 8039.

The broadcom may need module b44 which may not exist for kernel 2.2 (BL3).

Thank you for any hint!

I suggest asking your friends for other network cards such as RTL 8139 PCI
or older pcmcia network cards. Non-cardbus.
